Are Pinay Moms More Susceptible to Anemia?

Are you always fatigued, feeling weak, and have difficulty concentrating? You might have anemia. We Pinay moms, are always feeling like super moms, able to do anything and everything that we have a tendency to ignore our symptoms.

Don’t just disregard it. People who are anemic feel tired and worn out, and their overall health begins to suffer. In severe cases, anemic people who do not seek treatment can experience major organ damage due to oxygen starvation. Have it checked by a doctor ASAP.

Other symptoms associated with anemia include:

Shortness of breath
Irritability
Weakness
Dizziness
Cold hands and feet
Racing or irregular heartbeat
Inability to concentrate or think clearly
Chest pain
Sexual dysfunction

According to ScienceDaily, anemia is more prevalent in women who just gave birth, women from lower income to middle income bracket. If you are a Pinay Mom, there’s a big possibility are you are vulnerable.

Disease prevalence is consistently higher in individuals of low socioeconomic status, those considered to be underweight, and females who have recently given birth. Some estimates suggest that as many as 50-80 percent of individuals in these high-risk populations may have some degree of anemia.

The most common cause of anemia is low iron levels in the blood – iron-deficiency anemia. Your body suffocates because without iron, your red blood cells may become low in a protein called hemoglobin, which carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.

Try: Over the Counter United Home Fersulfate Plus. When I was pregnant, I was recommended to take Ferrous Sulfate and was recommended a branded anti anemic tablet which made me feel nauseous and dizzy. I got an over the counter ferrous sulfate Fersulfate Plus (which is a lot cheaper by the way) and it worked for me. Even if you’re not pregnant, you can try the regular ferrous sulfate. Everyone whose anemic or just needing an energy booster should try this.

Tip: Vitamin C helps absorb Iron faster. Having vitamin C with iron-rich foods will help to absorb the iron more easily. Serve up meals with plenty of vegetables and fruit or have a glass of orange juice with your meal. Try this Ceetab Premium which can also help you avoid digestive problems (constipation) that I had when taking Ferrous Sulfate.
