DO: Dont Hold Back Your Home Organization -Three Myths of Home Organization Busted

Most people don't get organized because they think it's too hard or it takes too much time. Here are three myths of home organization.

I’m the last one to say that I’m a pro at getting organized at home. My husband is always annoyed with me because I get his things (which he already organized), and misplace them all the time.

But there’s a little misinformation about home organization and getting organized I need to clear up. It’s not up there in the clouds and totally achievable even by the most klutzy moms like me.

=====

Myth #1: Being organized is innate and a talent.

I assure you, it’s definitely not. There are people who believe that if you don’t have organization in your blood and you are not born with it, it’s going to be nearly impossible to make the changes to how you live and enjoy the simplicity of being
organized.

That’s far from the truth. For instance, I definitely do not have organization in my blood. I’m messy and forgetful, and always gets sidetracked when Im organizing my kitchen or organizing the books or organizing the gazilion toys my kids has accumulated. But I believe I am a completely different person today than 10 years ago. I have studied and learned  lot from the internet about the basics of organization and have realized that  being organized beats the heck out of living with the nasty side-effects of clutter.

=====

Myth #2: You have to buy the right kind of storage and fancy organization systems to start organizing.

Stop! Don’t be like me. For several years, I have stopped myself from starting the journey to organization just because I thought I need to start with the right organizing shelves and boxes, and those cute storage products in the home stores. That’s definitely not the case.

First off, Pinoy moms are an expert at DIYs and browsing Pinterest for DIY storage should give you enough ideas on how to create storage and organizing systems that will certainly will get the job done.

Secondly, storage doesn’t have to be fancy. In fact I use more items from discount craft stores and yard sales for storage than I do from the big name stores.

=====

Myth #3: It’s too tiring and takes a lot of time and motivation to get your home organized.

Not true at all.

I don’t do a lot of cleaning and organizing at all. About 15 minutes habit per day should take care of everything throughout the week. Changing the way you look at cleaning and organizing can help a lot on starting you off on your organizing journey.

Most people give up organizing because they start too big at once. Start with your closet or even just your table. You don’t have to take it all on at once. Learn some simple rules you can start to live by that will make disorganization a thing of the past.

If you are not the cause of disorganization, don’t be stressed. Even if you are not the cause of the clutter and it’s your husband or kids, you can all learn what it takes and just make a few simple changes to live a better life…being organized.
