On the grocery store (at Pioneer Center in Kapitolyo), I’ve been passing this Golden Salted Egg Powder by Knorr and have been tempted a dozen of times to buy it. But it was so big and so pricey! Almost 1k -ohmaygad.

Salted Egg Fried Chicken Recipe 1

Being the #Kapitolyofoodie that I am, I got my first taste of the salted egg stuff at Cab Cafe. It was oh so yummy and delicious. I know that doesn’t tell you much but it is so good and rich! It’s sandy and creamy, (if you can imagine sand on your mouth.) And then here comes KFC and it’s salted fried chicken promo. I finally gave in. I bought that Golden Salted and figured Im gonna #saltedeggyolkeverything for a while. So prepare for more salted egg recipes soon! :P

Okay, this is not exactly a KFC copycat because I haven’t tasted that one.

I figured it would be easy enough. Fried chicken plus salted egg sauce. Chicken!

So heres what I what Google came up with. :P

Salted Egg Fried Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 800 gms chicken
  • salt (to taste)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp pamintang durog (ground black pepper)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • oil -enough to deep fry chicken
  • 1/2 bar butter/margarine
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp egg yolk powder (or 4 tbsp mashed salted egg yolk)
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Mixed all dry ingredients 2-6.
  2. Dredge chicken in the flour mixture.
  3. Put chicken in the ref for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Heat oil.
  5. Deep fry chicken until golden. Rest in a wire rack.

Sauce

  • Heat butter on the pan. Add minced garlic. Whisk egg yolk powder and curry powder. Add sugar. Add milk. Mix and turn fire off immediately.
  • Mix with chicken and toss until coated.

So, the verdict! At first the son wouldn’t eat it because he said it looks weird. He’s a chicken monster so that’s saying something. When he saw the father having several, he got curious and tasted it. Needless to say, there was nothing left and all left the table satisfied. Hooray! I heard that this is a Singapore dish so plus one for Anakin’s food and cooking experiences.
