Korean Beef Steak

Korean Beef Steak

Some families, they have a passion for everything Mexican. My family, we have a passion for everything Korean. From KDrama to Fashion, to Food.

But mostly food. That’s why, in our pantry, we always have Sesame Oil, Sesame, Instant Korean Ramen, and noodles. We love bibimbap, samgyetang, chapchae, Korean Rice Cakes, Korean Fried Chicken, and anything that we can get our hands on, from the weird to the really weird.

If you’re looking for an intro food, Korean Beef Steak is a good one to try and make. It’s easy, and does not taste as different.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons minced ginger
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 kilo beef sirloin or tenderloin, sliced thinly – I get the pre sliced ones from Monterey.
  • 3 cups beef stock (or water with beef cubes)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp liquid seasoning
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil <you can skip some of the others but don’t skip this)
  • 1/2 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup Maya all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup Maya cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoons chopped green onions

Procedure:

In a wok, heat oil then saute garlic, ginger and onions. Add beef slices and stir-fry over high heat until light brown in color. Add the beef stock, soy sauce, liquid seasoning, sesame oil, beef cube, sugar and pepper. Bring to a boil. Combine flour and cornstarch. Dissolve in some water then add to the sauce. Cook until sauce is thick and beef is tender. Add the sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with hot rice!
