Recipes I don’t like cooking -recies with several steps. Like this Salisbury steak. For some reason I thought that it’s a hard one because there’s making the patties, there’s cooking in oven, etc. and I’ve been chucking it aside every time I’m looking for something to cook. And of course, it’s very foreign sounding. Where is Salisbury exactly?
Turns out, my fears are totally unfounded. It’s really easy. And you don’t need to bake it. Just make the patties and cook in gravy. In fact, I think I may have done it before without even realizing it. This Salisbury Steak Recipe with Mushroom Sauce is also kid-friendly so have no fear!
The traditional Salisbury steak recipe starts with the preparation of the patties. You’ll need ground beef, bread crumbs, an egg, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Simply mix all the ingredients together, shape the mixture into patties, and then cook them in a gravy made with beef broth, mushroom soup, and diced onions. The patties are simmered in the gravy until they’re fully cooked and the flavors have melded together.
For a more hands-off approach, you can also make Salisbury steak in a slow cooker. This version of the recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or when you don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen. Simply prepare the patties, place them in the slow cooker, and pour the gravy over the top. Let the dish cook on low heat for 4-6 hours, and you’ll have a hot and delicious meal ready and waiting for you when you get home.
One of the great things about this dish is its versatility. If you’re not a fan of mushroom sauce, you can easily switch it up and use a different type of gravy or sauce. You can also add in additional ingredients like diced carrots, celery, or even bell peppers for added flavor and nutrition.
Another benefit of making Salisbury steak at home is that you can control the quality of the ingredients that you use. Use grass-fed beef, organic mushrooms, and high-quality seasonings, and you’ll be able to create a dish that is not only delicious, but also healthy and nourishing.
So, why not give this classic dish a try and see for yourself just how easy and delicious it can be? Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a beginner in the kitchen, this Salisbury steak recipe is sure to become a new family favorite.
(Ps, according to Wikipedia, the creator of the recipe is a Dr Salisbury and it originated in America, not as I previously assumed, the place somewhere in Europe.)
